History of Nitro:
The Nitro Racing League is a long time NASCAR and Formula 1 Racing League that was originally founded by Ax4x Matt. The league was heavily influenced by the then popular NORC NASCAR Championship.
The first established Nitro league race took place in July of 2014 on NASCAR 14. The series started with two racing divisions: The Nitro Pro and Nitro Amateur Series. Drivers would be ranked into the respective series based on racing performance.
However, with a lack of drivers able to fill both division's rosters, Nitro was unable to maintain a consistent showing of drivers. After Round 2 of the NASCAR league, Nitro would fall into the hands of IORA (International Online Racing Association) owned then by Raceday24. The league merger would bring Nitro competitors over to IORA and form a larger group of drivers. Shortly after, Matt would leave the organization (The history of IORA and its evolution is vague, but the organization is credited for being apart of Nitro's early history).
Throughout the latter portions of 2014 and early 2015, many ex-Nitro competitors became frustrated in finding the best racing league to take part in as consistency between many of the leagues were unstable and poorly run. In the Summer of 2015, many drivers brought up the idea of bringing Nitro back to create a better league racing environment.
It was decided by Matt in October of 2015 that Nitro would return. The league would build upon the problems and issues learned from other leagues. In January of 2016, Nitro started its first full season on the Xbox 360, hosting the Nitro Cup Series on NASCAR 15 and Nitro Grand Prix Series on F1 2014. What made Nitro special was its NASCAR schedule, where every track within the game would run only once per season (Then, a total of 23 tracks). This meant Nitro could run 2 seasons in 1 year (This system was only done between 2016 thru 2019, meaning a total of 7 full seasons were conducted by the Summer of 2019. This, however, excludes Season 4 where only 22 races total were completed).
In January of 2018 Nitro would make a bold change. A merge consisting of 2 other leagues would turn the organization into the biggest it had ever been before. It was called the TPN Alliance, named after the 3 leagues involved in the merger. It consisted of TaxSlayer Trucks, Pierce NASCAR Series, and Nitro Cup Series.
In the Summer of 2018, just after the completion of Season 5, Ax4x Matt handed majority league ownership to Nitro NASCAR Champion and current Nitro Owner, Karma MJO.
On January 1st, 2019, TPN Owners Karma MJO (Nitro), demonsavior510 (Pierce), and newly named Truck Series Owner, Ax4x Matt (TaxSlayer), would rename the TPN Alliance to the Nitro Xbox Racing League. The name change would help reduce the confusion in explaining what TPN stood for. The change would also help solidify the rules/regulations within the league and grow a bigger and better league community.
In 2019, Nitro would host the most active divisions in its league history. As Nitro continued to host its Formula 1 championship on F1 2018, the league would host all 3 NASCAR National Series (Trucks, Xfinity, Cup) on NASCAR Heat 3 for the first time. During Nitro's 6th Season, Karma MJO would leave Nitro Cup Series Ownership and hand the position down to demonsavior510 and Ax4x Matt. In June of 2019, Matt would fully leave Nitro ownership for the second time since the TPN merger and as original Nitro founder/owner.
In the Summer of 2019, demonsavior510 would make the first biggest change in Nitro's schedule history. Season 8 would host a total of 30 NASCAR events, breaking the system of 2 Nitro NASCAR seasons in 1 year. While Nitro's F1 schedule was not extended, the series would offer the competitors with a lengthened off season. Season 8 would also see the removal of the Nitro Truck Series, reducing the organization back to 3 racing divisions.
In the early phases of Season 8, demonsavior510 would hand Nitro's ownership role back to Karma MJO. While dealing with inner-league issues, Karma would focus his attention to reforming Nitro and preparing the organization for its biggest season yet, Nitro Season 9.
In August of 2020, Nitro would see the biggest wave of new drivers competing in the organization. The longest lasting divisions of the Nitro F1 Series and Nitro Cup Series would witness 9 full seasons of competition. Season 9 would also mark the first season without the Nitro National Series (Xfinity) as the rebirth of the Nitro Truck Series would take its place. The organization would also move to the newly released F1 2020 and NASCAR Heat 5 games.
As of March 2021, the Nitro Racing League celebrates 10 Season of Nitro Cup Series and Formula 1 racing. The organization will see the return of all 3 NASCAR divisions for the first time since Season 7 of Cup. The introduction of the Nitro Hall of Fame is also established. Current owner Karma MJO and league founder Ax4x Matt would become the first inductees of the 2021 Nitro Hall of Fame.
Nitro currently operates its NASCAR division on the iRacing Simulation platform, while F1 continues on the Codemasters/EA Formula 1 titles.
