Nitro Conduct of Competition 1.0:
- 1.1: The Nitro iRacing League is an organization tailored to sim racing enthusiasts. Competitors are expected to race in a respectable manner, allowing the right amount of give and take on track as drivers are expected of in the real world.
- 1.2: Competitors are to stay within track limits when racing and making passes. Track limits vary between different racing disciplines, and will be clarified to drivers per series and tracks when applicable. Competitors are also to follow track racing flow, and only drive backwards to correct car direction from an incident.
- 1.3: Vehicle to vehicle contact is part of auto racing. Contact can be caused by (but not limited to) hard racing, accidents and wrecks. Competitors, however, are allowed to protest contact if deemed excessive or avoidable with solid evidence.
- 1.4: Competitors are expected to keep their language mature during and outside of a racing event. Severity of immature language use will result in penalties.
- 1.4.1: Immature/offensive content which include but do not limit to pictures, photoshop edits, profile pics, server names and/or messages towards another driver (during and/or outside of a racing event) is prohibited and will result in severe penalties (listed in Section 7.0).
Qualifying 2.0:
- 2.1: Qualifying sessions will consist of the following
- 2.1.1 - 2 Laps/5 Minutes for Ovals
- 2.1.2 - 2 Laps/10 Minutes for Road Courses
- 2.2: Qualifying Scrutiny set to Strict
Cautions 3.0:
- 3.1: Cautions will follow default procedures set by the sim.
- 3.2: Cautions will not be thrown manually except for the following:
- 3.2.1 - Multi-Car incidents where iRacing does not call the caution, depending on the confines of the circuit
- 3.2.2 - Cars stopped on track in potentially hazardous areas (pit lane entry/exit, apron)
Pit Road Procedures 4.0:
- 4.1: Competitors are prohibited from driving through an excessive amount of pit boxes. Drivers must stay towards the outside lane of pit road until you are within 5 boxes of your pit stall.
- 4.1.1: Under caution, drivers are to stay in a single file line in addition to the above guidelines.
Restarts 5.0:
- 5.1: Restart procedures will be handled by the sim.
- 5.1.1: On tracks that utilize iRacing’s new restart procedure, the leader has control of the field within the marked restart zone. This is usually marked as the “Geico Restart Zone” on NASCAR sanctioned tracks.
- 5.1.2: On tracks that do not have a marked restart zone, the leader has control of the field after the pace car pulls off the track and before iRacing displays the green flag (original restart procedures) unless otherwise noted.
- 5.2: Drivers cannot change lanes until they have crossed the start/finish line. Doing so will result in a Drive-Thru Penalty under green flag conditions, or if a quick yellow an EOL.
- 5.2.1 Under Single File Restarts the leader chooses where the lane will be at his discretion
- 5.3: In addition to changing lanes on restarts, drivers cannot cross below and onto the apron of any track before the start/finish line.
- 5.3.1: Noticeable tracks include but aren’t limited to:
- Phoenix Raceway
- Kansas
- Las Vegas

- 6.1: At Superspeedways (Daytona, Talladega & Atlanta) the yellow (white at Atlanta) line on the apron is out of bounds.
- 6.1.1: If you pass underneath the line during the race, you will be forced to give that position back within a lap. Failure to do so will result in a Drive-Thru Penalty.
- In the event of a caution being called before a driver takes their Drive-Thru Penalty, they will start at the very end of the field on the following restart attempt.
- 6.1.2: If a driver passes underneath the line for a win, that driver will not be credited with the win. They will be scored as the last place car on the lead lap.
- 6.1.3: If a driver is attempting a pass and is forced underneath the line, he may complete the pass on only that driver. If he takes advantage of the situation and passes more than that 1 driver, that driver will be forced to take a Drive-Thru Penalty under green flag conditions.
- 6.1.1: If you pass underneath the line during the race, you will be forced to give that position back within a lap. Failure to do so will result in a Drive-Thru Penalty.
Penalties 7.0:
- 7.1: In-Race Penalties are given out by the sim.
- 7.2: Race Officials can give out penalties under certain circumstances.
- 7.2.1: Officials can hand out EOL, Drive Through and DQ Penalties.
- 7.3: Post-Race Penalties will be given in accordance to the severity of an incident(s):
- 7.3.1 P-1: One Race Probation
- Probation means the supervision of a driver due to an incident that causes issues with another driver. Drivers will be given an EOL at the start of the next race they participate in.
- 7.3.2: P-2: 10 Point Penalty and Three Race Probation
- 7.3.3: P-3: One Race Suspension w/10 Point Penalty & Probation for Rest of Season
- 7.3.4: P-4: Season Suspension
- 7.3.5: P-5: League Ban
- 7.3.5.1: League Bans will be reviewed at the end of each season.
- 7.3.1 P-1: One Race Probation
- 7.4: Reasons to receive any Post-Race (including In-Race) Penalties are as follows:
- 7.4.1: Not following race marshal's calls
- 7.4.2: Not taking an In-Race penalty
- (Ex. Not taking a Drive-Thru after being instructed to do so)
- 7.4.3: Playing excessively loud music, videos or audio clips through your mic
- 7.4.4: Excessively aggressive conversations during the race (harassing drivers, badmouthing the race, etc.)
- 7.4.5: Use of derogatory terms towards another driver OR the use of racial slurs in ANY capacity
- 7.4.5: Sitting on track and waiting for another driver to intentionally wreck them
- 7.4.6: Intentionally crashing into drivers under caution
- 7.4.7: Causing avoidable cautions during a race.
- 7.4.8: Excessive contact/wrecking of an individual
- 7.4.9: Premeditated incident towards an individual
- 7.4.10: Penalties can be made after post race review
- 7.4.11: Purposely rigging the outcome of a race
- Creating a caution that benefits either or both of the parties involved in the incident for a better points/finishing position.
- 7.5: If a driver feels that any penalty was unfairly given, they have the right to appeal their penalty after the conclusion of the race. In-depth reasoning, witnesses and hard copy proof (if available in the form of a video clip) must be given to help their cause. Their penalty will either be reduced or removed depending on the reasoning and evidence.
- 7.5.1: Drivers appealing their penalty have 72 hours after the conclusion of the race to make their appeal. Failure to do so will mean all given penalties will stand.
- 7.5.2: If a penalty has been reduced or removed, the resulting decision cannot be changed.
Points 8.0:
- 8.1: Points will be handled by the sim
- 8.2: Point formats will be specified for each series and special events
- 8.3: Season Format is an old style Playoffs. Top 10 in Points get in the playoffs, no win and get in. The 10 Playoff Drivers also get playoff points for a Win (3 Points), and they also get Playoff points for their seed in the Regular Season (Exact same as real life).
- 8.4: Season is 15 Regular Season Races, 5 Playoff Races.
Misc. Rules 9.0:
- 9.1: The league owners reserve the right to remove inactive drivers from the iRacing league roster.
- 9.2: League owners cannot be biased when accepting new members into Nitro, whether it relates to race, gender, or ethnicity. Nitro does have the right to decline or remove a competitor from the league if said competitor fails to follow the Nitro Conduct of Competition standards.
- 9.3: If drivers interested in and/or attempting to return to Nitro competition have had prior negative history, Nitro has the right not to accept them back into the league.
Misc. Racing Rules 10.0:
- 10.1: Drivers are not allowed to push another competitor that is out of gas at any time. Both parties will be given penalties.
- 10.2: A limited number of tire sets will be placed for each race.
- 10.3: No Fast Repair will be available per race unless otherwise noted, Plate Races will have 1 Still (Daytona, Talladega, Atlanta, ISS).
